Since the success of the demo at Ulverston I then moved on to Barrow Society of Artists. I have demo'd oil pastels to once again spread the awareness of oil pastels as a stand alone media to the members of the Barrow society. I think from the dozen or so pieces I have created since discovering oil pastels qualities, they have become my current favourite media to use. I have done another Dog for the demo and this is the resulting image minus the projector setup.
I decided to introduce the pink and purples from the previous demo in to this as I thought they complimented the blue and had never thought of using either before doing both demos.

I have recently done a demonstration at a local Society I am a member of. I think it was the first demo of oil pastels the society has had and I was keen to show them that oil pastels are a great stand alone media. As aposed to using it as a resist or part of a mixed media piece combined with acrylic for example.
They are very affordable and great fun to use, I treat them like a pastel pencil apart from them going on much thicker, bold in colour and layerable. Here is my demo photos and the final piece scanned of a French Bulldog |
